OUR CLASSES

Kids Go West offers 4 levels of classes designed to meet the needs of students ages 4 - 14 years old.  Students are placed in classes based on both English ability as well as age, so students will feel comfortable learning and speaking with their fellow classmates.

LEVEL 1

Duration: 30 Minutes

Available: 3 or 5 Days/Week

Level 1 is designed for students who have had little exposure to the English language.  In this level, students will learn basic vocabulary and study topics related to everyday habits and experiences, with an emphasis on early development of pronunciation.  Students will also focus on learning to ask and answer simple present, past, and future time questions.  At the completion of this level, students will feel confident holding short conversations about everyday topics such as weather, clothing, and transportation.

LEVEL 2

Duration: 30 Minutes

Available: 3 or 5 Days/Week

Level 2 is designed for students who are able to create basic sentences and handle basic communication in uncomplicated social or survival situations.  In this level, students will focus on participating in short conversations about familiar topics and learn new vocabulary about the world around them.  Students will also learn to speak in present and past progressive and other basic grammar concepts to increase the complexity of the ideas they are able to express and diversify sentence structure to sound like native speakers.

LEVEL 3

Duration: 30 Minutes

Available: 3 or 5 Days/Week

Level 3 is designed for students who can use English adequately to build basic sentences and participate in short conversations, and are ready to expand their communicative skills in less-familiar social contexts.  Students will learn to add complexity and details to their speech, will hone their pronunciation skills, and will speak and listen about topics related to general life experiences, history, science, and culture.  They will begin to learn about idioms and common slang useful in everyday situations.  Students will also learn to express and support personal opinions and ideas.

LEVEL 4

Duration: 30 Minutes

Available: 3 or 5 Days/Week

Level 4 is designed for students who have attained sufficient English proficiency to function in social and survival contexts and are now ready to begin refining those skills for use in academic or professional settings.  In Level 4, students will build upon previously learned skills to create more sophisticated speech and improve pronunciation by focusing on stress and intonation patterns.  Students will also learn to extend conversations by telling anecdotal stories, using idioms and slang, and will practice speaking about topics beyond everyday experiences.
